How this estimate works
A statistical model, refit weekly across the in-stock catalog, estimates what a coffee with these listed attributes typically sells for per ounce. Each multiplier compares one trait against the average lot in this market; the roaster line covers brand and sourcing together, which this model cannot separate. Bag size is shown separately, priced at the rate observed across sizes of the same coffee, because it says nothing about the coffee itself. The distribution counts every in-stock listing in the comparison group, with at least 15 listings from three roasters and no roaster supplying more than 60% of it. Decaf, blends, variety segments, processing families and bag formats stay separate. Origin, roast and selling currency can broaden as the group label indicates. Prices are converted to USD per ounce; shipping and differences in tax treatment are not adjusted. The model reads listed attributes only: the quality of the specific lot in the bag is not observable, so a price above the typical band is not evidence of overpricing.
Some listing details are missing or have limited model coverage, so the typical band shown is wider than usual.

Score is heavily shrunk toward 50; treat as a placeholder until more sources arrive.
How confidence affects the score
Coverage measures signal availability, not cup quality. This coffee has 23% of the signal universe on file. Missing sources are dropped, remaining weights are renormalized, and the result is shrunk toward a neutral 50 baseline by 43% so one thin signal cannot carry the score on its own.
The math on file: renormalized base 76.3 shrunk to 65.1 = 65.

Two independent Reddit threads give Blue Tokai a favorable but mixed picture. One repeat buyer remembered a great fruity pre-ground cup but could not reproduce its complexity after switching to whole beans, while another described the roaster as consistently reliable and recommended specific blends.

I used to order pre ground fresh roasted coffee from a company called Blue Tokai. Just their normal Aeropress grind and like a medium roasted coffee. And it tasted great had those fruity slightly acidic notes, i was really enjoying it. But the quality got worse as the bag sat there and got stale over a couple weeks. So

I would strongly recommend testing out different roasts/blends from Blue Tokai before you start exploring other options, as I’ve found them to be incredibly consistent over time but also varied enough in their offerings. Maybe try one of their sampler packs to gauge your preferences amongst their roasts, although I’d p

“I was brought up in a coffee drinking family. Then when I went to college, I started drinking Starbucks.”
“If I go to a coffee shop and I'm given a 10 out of 10 coffee, but the barista is surly, it takes 20 minutes, he's kind of snooty about the experience, versus I'll have an 8 out of 10 coffee and the barista is smiling, cheerful, knows my name, my coffee comes fast, everybody would prefer the 8 out of 10.”
