Cherrybook Index (CBI)

Evidence-of-quality score, not a cup score. Methodology

56

Sparse signal

Confidence2 of 7 signals on file

Score is heavily shrunk toward 50; treat as a placeholder until more sources arrive.

How confidence affects the score

Coverage measures signal availability, not cup quality. This coffee has 23% of the signal universe on file. Missing sources are dropped, remaining weights are renormalized, and the result is shrunk toward a neutral 50 baseline by 43% so one thin signal cannot carry the score on its own.

The math on file: renormalized base 58.7 shrunk to 55.0 + bonuses = 56.

About Passenger Coffee

Community reputation · Reddit

Polarizing· sentiment 50/100

Two Reddit threads give mixed accounts of Passenger Coffee. In one, a poster found a costly Hacienda La Esmeralda Gesha muted and disappointing less than a week after its stated roast date, while a commenter said it was too soon to drink and expected jasmine and stone-fruit notes to emerge with rest. In the other, a poster said they did not enjoy the Passenger coffees they tried because they were more acidic than they preferred.

First Gesha experience leaving me puzzled Hey all, I recently got some Hacienda La Esmeralda Gesha from Passenger Coffee as a gift, and it was very expensive. The only reason the gifter bought it is because they say they roast it and get it to your door in 2-3 days. Sure enough I got my coffee on the 12th with a roast.

  • r/Coffee · 10↑ · Suggestion for PA Roasters?

I am looking for a roaster with less acidic undertones. I've tried square one and passenger coffee and didn't enjoy any of their roasts due to their coffee just being more acidic. I do love New Holland Co's blend but am looking to explore. Any suggestions? I'm more of a medium/dark blend coffee lover and do enjoy blend
