At 340 g, this bag runs about 2% less per ounce than a typical 288 g bag; that is pack size, not the coffee.

How this estimate works

A statistical model, refit weekly across the in-stock catalog, estimates what a coffee with these listed attributes typically sells for per ounce. Each multiplier compares one trait against the average lot in this market; the roaster line covers brand and sourcing together, which this model cannot separate. Bag size is shown separately, priced at the rate observed across sizes of the same coffee, because it says nothing about the coffee itself. The distribution counts every in-stock listing in the comparison group, with at least 15 listings from three roasters and no roaster supplying more than 60% of it. Decaf, blends, variety segments, processing families and bag formats stay separate. Origin, roast and selling currency can broaden as the group label indicates. Prices are converted to USD per ounce; shipping and differences in tax treatment are not adjusted. The model reads listed attributes only: the quality of the specific lot in the bag is not observable, so a price above the typical band is not evidence of overpricing.

Some listing details are missing or have limited model coverage, so the typical band shown is wider than usual.

Sparse signal

Confidence2 of 7 signals on file

Score is heavily shrunk toward 50; treat as a placeholder until more sources arrive.

How confidence affects the score

Coverage measures signal availability, not cup quality. This coffee has 23% of the signal universe on file. Missing sources are dropped, remaining weights are renormalized, and the result is shrunk toward a neutral 50 baseline by 43% so one thin signal cannot carry the score on its own.

The math on file: renormalized base 54.6 shrunk to 52.6 = 53.

Three independent Reddit threads give Birch Coffee a mixed view. One New York poster grouped Birch among coffeehouses they loved and credited those shops with getting them into coffee. Another visitor initially disliked a Birch Kyoto slow-drip coffee but loved it by the end of the cup. A separate commenter said Birch had fallen from being their go-to and was not impressive on recent visits.

I've been in New York for the past two years and have had the fortune to visit some awesome coffeehouses - Stumptown, Café Grumpy, Birch, etc - and loved them all; they've actually been the places that have gotten me into coffee. But then I look at some reviews online and see, "Oh, X coffee is shit, X coffee is much be

Birch IMO fell off. It used to be my go-to spot when I worked on 28th and Madison 6 years ago, but I went there just before the pandemic and then went back there recently and was not impressed. Stumptown (Ace, and mcdougal location) on the other hand is one of my top picks in NYC when I’m not near a 9th Street location

  • r/Coffee · 7↑ · Slow drip iced coffee at home.

When I was visiting NYC I went to a coffee shop in flatiron called Birrch I believe. I believe it's one of a few birch located in NYC. Birch had a menu item I've never seen before. It was a Kyoto slow drip ice coffee served 4oz neat or over ice. I had mine neat. On the first sip I didn't like it but I drank slowly almo

From Shelly Coco:

“It's definitely one of the nicest coffee shops. I really love the back area that has the big communal table and then the bookshelves around it like a library.”
“I'd say that Birch Coffee is pretty pricey. Like a chai latte is $4 for a small, and their smalls are pretty small as well.”
