Three independent Reddit threads give Birch Coffee a mixed view. One New York poster grouped Birch among coffeehouses they loved and credited those shops with getting them into coffee. Another visitor initially disliked a Birch Kyoto slow-drip coffee but loved it by the end of the cup. A separate commenter said Birch had fallen from being their go-to and was not impressive on recent visits.

Birch IMO fell off. It used to be my go-to spot when I worked on 28th and Madison 6 years ago, but I went there just before the pandemic and then went back there recently and was not impressed. Stumptown (Ace, and mcdougal location) on the other hand is one of my top picks in NYC when I’m not near a 9th Street location
