Noted

Sparse signal

Confidence2 of 7 signals on file

Score is heavily shrunk toward 50; treat as a placeholder until more sources arrive.

How confidence affects the score

Coverage measures signal availability, not cup quality. This coffee has 23% of the signal universe on file. Missing sources are dropped, remaining weights are renormalized, and the result is shrunk toward a neutral 50 baseline by 43% so one thin signal cannot carry the score on its own.

The math on file: renormalized base 67.2 shrunk to 59.9 + bonuses = 66.

About Onyx Coffee Lab

Community reputation · Reddit

Mixed reviews· sentiment 65/100

Three Reddit contributions give a mixed-to-positive view of Onyx Coffee Lab. One poster said a $40 Onyx bag was not better than coffee they roasted at home. In another thread, a commenter called Monarch their favorite from Onyx and an easy first recommendation for espresso. A home roaster wrote that an Onyx Kenyan AA control sample was much more uniform in roast degree and bean size than their own batch, and said the consistency made them jealous.
