Score is heavily shrunk toward 50; treat as a placeholder until more sources arrive.
How confidence affects the score
Coverage measures signal availability, not cup quality. This coffee has 23% of the signal universe on file. Missing sources are dropped, remaining weights are renormalized, and the result is shrunk toward a neutral 50 baseline by 43% so one thin signal cannot carry the score on its own.
The math on file: renormalized base 77.7 shrunk to 65.9 + bonuses = 68.

...which is obviously intentional. All of that is to say I don’t think this is necessarily a trend—quality-minded roasters tend to roast “lighter” and have done so for a while. But there are certainly some very good roasters that do roast with significantly more development, if that’s what you like (Ruby a good example

...press is out, and even the Chemex or CleverDripper doesn’t easily produce that much coffee. I almost think that getting better beans (they have okay beans but were blown away when I used Ruby beans in the clever dripper) and a drip machine is the most reasonable… but that doesn’t feel like a “great” solution.
