Roaster · St. Louis, MO
11 lots in stock, mostly Colombia, Panama and Ethiopia.
Coverage is below 50%. Available roaster-level evidence comes from Reddit. Per-lot evidence from SCA grades, Coffee Review entries, and public on-shop product ratings is limited across the catalog. With limited signal, scores are also pulled toward a neutral 50 baseline by the Cherrybook Index methodology, so lots can read flatter than the actual cup quality differences between them. The average Cherrybook Index therefore leans more heavily on roaster-level reputation than per-lot quality.

Per-lot signals (averaged)
Vary across lots; averaged over 11 in-stock lots.
Bonuses earned (per lot)
Base components are renormalized over whatever signals are available for each lot. SCA + Coffee Review are capped at 40% combined to keep the cupping story from dominating. Bonuses (accolades, awards, editorial coverage) and freshness decay are applied on top.

Two Reddit posts praise Sump. One poster says they enjoyed trying it; another calls a Costa Rica coffee exceptional, juicy, full, easy to brew, and highly recommends it.
Finally got to try Sump from St. Louis. Enjoyed it but I used a little too much water. Any thoughts on Sump, their coffee, or ways to prepare it?
For all you STL peeps, Sump's most recent batch of Costa Rica is exceptional. Very juicy, very full. Very easy to brew at home on a V60, too. I'm doing 25:350 at a 14 grind (on a Baratza), 50g bloom, water in by 1:45 and dripped by 2:20. If you can pick up a bag or find a cup in a local shop, I highly recommend trying.
